Pyrenees & Anatolian Puppies for Sale in Mt. Pleasant, NC

We are expecting our next litter of Great Pyrenees's puppy's in January 2021

We do NOT currently have any puppies for sale!

Our team of working livestock guardian dogs raise all the puppies born at Cotton Bean Goat Farm. We also have free ranging chickens  and goats so they are taught to leave them along from the day they can walk and leave their birthing puppy palace. It is interesting to watch the adults train the puppies. You will hear one yelp, like something is wrong. Look over in the direction of the yelp and one of the adults has penned it to the ground for chasing a chicken. here are some pictures from our previous litters of AKC Pyrenees's Puppies.

What is a LGD?

Simply put, a livestock guardian dog. is bred to live with and protect your goats, chickens / livestock from predators. We have 4 working dogs here at Cotton Bean Goat Farms. Both of these breeds are protective of our goat farm and territorial. Jinger, Jake, Jasper and June Bug are also very intelligent, patient, and profoundly loyal to our livestock, chickens, and goats here at Cotton Bean Goat Farm, these muscular avengers are prized as working guard dogs without equal.

Why buy a LGD from a working farm?

Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd's are great dogs but they still need training as puppies. Buying a puppy for your farm from us allows our experienced team of working LGD's to start the training for you!  They are still puppies and you will need to continue to work with them at your farm until they are fully trained. Most lgd breeders recommend that you not leave them along with your goats, chickens, cattle, bunnies, pigs or other livestock until around 18 months of age. They will occasionally chase a chicken but if you have them close you can correct the behavior. Our working parents raise the puppies with goats and chickens. As soon as the puppies can walk Jake, Jinger, June Bug and Jasper start training them.

What is a working Dog?

Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd's need a job! If they don't have a job they can be destructive when they get bored. Oddly enough part of their job is sleeping all day so that they can bark and protect your farm from the Ninja's at night. This is a running goat farm joke. We rarely see what they see in the woods. Jake, our Anatolian, will back and signal Jinger who will take off to go investigate what is going on in the woods. We have never seen anything on the farm that shouldn't be. Our neighbor did say that before we got our lgd's he often her coyotes close. They do often bring up carcasses of dead animals including boar pigs. If we don't see anything that means they are doing a great job!

Are LGD's good with children?

YES!!! We have 2 AKC registered Great Pyrenees and 2 lgd's that are Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd mixed. working dogs and they are amazing with children. We have a 10 year old daughter and we often joke they are her dogs. We live on 24 wooded acres in the country and I never worry about her.  They will follow her around, lay out of site and keep an eye on her. When we have other parents visit the farm they are instantly very protective over their children.  Just ask John!  lol  He came to visit with his 2 year old son for the first time and raised he voice to his son. Our female, Jinger, stepped in between them and glared at John. We quickly learned that she is super protective of children. We had another couple come over to meet a litter of puppies that we had for sale from Jake and Jinger.  Noah was playing on the rocks and Jake followed him around and didn't leave his side.  Our daughter was running and playing when she fell.  She was screaming and crying. Jake stood over her until we arrived to check on her. As soon as we got close he moved.

How big is a Great Pyrenees or Anatolian Shepherd?

These lgd's are big dogs. A female Anatolian or Pyrenees is typically 80 - 120 lbs . A male Great Pyrenees or Anatolian Shepherd is generally up to 150lbs of muscle. They are big, strong dogs but they need to be when they are defending your farm from bears, coyotes, boar pigs and Ninja's.

Jinger saves Willow Goat! WIllow is our now adult Nigerian dwarf nanny who resides in our doe goat pasture. We had propped up a kennel panel against a tree and went in to get some water. I came out and Jinger was barking. I quickly told her to be quite as I walked to the other pasture. When she realized I wasn't coming toward the gate she began to growl aggressively. I looked over to see what was going on and I saw it. The fence panel had fell on Willow and she was pinned. Jinger was keeping the other goats in the pasture off the panel and trying to get my attention.  I ran over to the pasture and as soon as she saw me touch the gate she stopped growling but continued to keep the other goats of the fence. She is worth her weight in gold on our goat farm. I can't imagine not having our team of working LGD's.
